Karen is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of Blink UX. Karen is primarily focused on Blink's growth, strategic planning and culture. Karen also wears the Chief Operations Officer (COO) hat at Blink and spends time speaking, mentoring and writing.
Karen began her career studying Fine Arts in Vancouver, BC at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design. She holds a degree in Art History & Visual Arts from the University of Victoria and is a graduate of the Information Technology & Multimedia program from Capilano University, Vancouver. Karen also started a Ph.D. program in Values Driven Leadership at the Benedictine University in 2015.
Through her work at Blink, Karen was a winner of the 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year award and she was a finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award in 2015. In 2016, Blink was listed on Forbes Magazine's Best 25 Small Companies in America list and has won the Puget Sound Business Journal's Washington's Fastest-Growing Private Companies award in 2015 and 2012, Seattle Business Magazine's Tech Impact Silver Award in 2015, The Women President's Organization's 50 Fastest-Growing Women Led Companies Worldwide award in 2014, and was listed on Inc. Karen is an active member and speaker for the International Leadership Association (ILA) (ILA), an active member in the Small Giants Community, and a board member for the World Trade Center. Girls Can Do is an event series for girls with the mission to inspire a generation of Possibility Thinkers and ignite a vision for Equal Opportunity.

Kelly is the Chief Experience Officer (CxO) and Co-Founder of Blink UX. He focuses on the future of Blink’s tools, services, and methods while also working on unique project requirements. He is passionate about making our daily interactions with technology more innovative, intuitive, and rewarding.
While growing Blink from two to over sixty employees, he has worked with hundreds of clients, from tech-sector heavy hitters like Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, to startups, and non-profits. He enjoys working on cutting edge projects in the data visualization, healthcare, and the IT spaces. He feels lucky to have contributed to some of the largest and most successful product launches in history
Always eager to share his passion for design and technology with others, he volunteers his time as an instructor and external advisor for programs at Lake Washington Institute of Technology and the University of Washington. His work has been recognized with a number of awards including several IDSA IDEA awards for design excellence, and he has spoken on the topic of UX at the University of Washington, Convey UX and the Project Management Institute to name a few. In 2011, he was featured as “Geek of the Week” from Geek Wire Magazine.

Randy LieberRandy Lieber Chief Financial Officer & Partner
As CFO and Partner of the company, Randy oversees Blink’s finances and administration. He is in charge of the overall health and viability of the company, ensuring log term sustainability and profitability.
Randy has more than 30 years of accounting and finance experience, including 14 years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and later serving as the Chief Financial Officer of several public and private companies, including CellCyte Genetics Corporation and Ascentium Corporation. At Ascentium, Randy was a key member of its management team from its inception in 2001 through its dramatic growth period ending in 2008. Randy left Ascentium in 2008 to start an accounting consulting firm working with start-up technology companies.
Randy has a BS degree in accounting from Central Washington University and became a CPA in 1987. He is the treasurer of FEAT of Washington and is on the Board of Directors of the Greater Seattle Youth Bowling Association. He spends his free time coaching youth bowling and driving his daughters to local youth bowling tournaments.
Heidi AdkissonHeidi Adkisson Principal UX Designer & Partner
Heidi is a Blink Partner and Principal UX Designer. She has been leading complex projects since Blink's inception, delivering strategy and design for hundreds of clients including ISB, Garden City Group, NASA, Moen, and Providence.
Heidi has over 20 years of software development experience working with large-scale system implementations. Her experience includes requirements analysis and interactive design, working with established companies such as AT&T Wireless and Microsoft.
Heidi has a Masters in Human Centered Design and Engineering and an MBA from the University of Washington. She has a B.A. in Anthropology from Colorado State University and an Associate of Applied Arts in Web/Multimedia Design from the Art Institute of Seattle. Heidi is a member of ACM SIGCHI and Puget Sound SIGCHI.
John DirksJohn Dirks Head of Research & Partner
John has been a UX research manager and user researcher for over 20 years. Joining Blink shortly after it was founded in 2000, John has been instrumental in growing the company's research practice to the highly capable team it is today. John has specialized in complex research engagements over the years, including multi-phase field studies involving consumer electronics, auto technology, and more recently VR/AR systems. He has consulted to a diverse set of clients including Microsoft, The Allen Institute for Brain Science, Nike, HP, Shure, Amazon, Nintendo, Starbucks, The Seattle Seahawks, Arc'teryx, Nordstrom, F5 Networks, and many others. John has managed numerous international research studies, through which he has developed partnerships with top UX research firms in other countries.
As Head of UX Research, John is excited about expanding Blink's research practice to other Blink office locations, including the company's new office in San Diego. He sees boundless opportunities to empower organizations with foundational and evaluative research insights so they can make better, evidence-based decisions about their products and services.
John earned a Master of Science from the University of Washington and a graduate certificate in Human Centered Design. When not at work, John enjoys reading, playing saxophone in a big band, and embarking on outdoor activities and adventures with his wife and two daughters.
Geoff HarrisonGeoff Harrison Head of UX Services & Partner
Geoff is a Blink Partner and Head of UX Services. He has been instrumental in building a full-service user-centered design practice at Blink, uniting the firm’s research expertise with innovative design, prototyping, and development. This work relies on Evidence-driven Design™ strategies to help Blink’s combined teams create more desirable and useful products for our clients. He created a workshop on Evidence-driven Design, recently delivered at UX Week and Convey UX and has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Washington HCDE program.
Prior to Blink, Geoff founded Eye Level, a design studio, and was the Creative Director at Modern Digital Seattle. He holds bachelor degrees in graphic design and mass media management from Miami University in Ohio, and a graduate certificate in user-centered design from the University of Washington.
When not at work, he designs rockets, Lego forts, and scavenger hunts with his three boys and takes them skiing, hiking, or anything else that burns energy. He also enjoys cooking and finding great places to eat with his wife.

Tom is a UX Director and Partner at Blink and has been researching interaction and technology use in homes, schools, workplaces, and beyond since the year 2000. Tom’s research experience spans understanding how people use consumer devices, websites, and apps to the usability of server software.
In 2006, he graduated from the Ph.D. program in Learning Sciences at the University of Washington and was previously a faculty member in the University of Georgia’s College of Education. There he conducted ethnographic studies of how young people learn to use digital media and how technology is integrated into educational settings.
Donna GlosserDonna Glosser Director of Qualitative Research & Partner
As Director of Northwest Insights and a Partner of Blink, Donna leads the qualitative recruiting division of Blink UX since 2013. She is well-versed in managing a variety of qualitative methods: focus groups, ethnographic studies, taste tests, in-depth interviewing, online research, and product placement and has over 30 years of experience in operations and sales in the marketing research industry.
One of her proudest accomplishments in recent years is to host international college students. Her favorite aspects of hosting include helping the students improve their English, learning about their culture and food, introducing them to Seattle and forming lifelong relationships. You can find Donna at her gym usually by 5:30am each weekday morning to start her day off right.
Lauren MartinLauren Martin Director, Client Relations and Partner
Lauren is a Director of Client Relations and Partner at Blink. With over a decade of business management, marketing, and sales experience, she has a deep understanding of how to craft successful engagements with clients. She can often be found onsite with clients brainstorming their next project together.
She attended Georgia Southern University before moving to Seattle in 2003 and holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington. Lauren is a member of the Innovators Network at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, which aims to saves lives faster by funding innovative, early-stage research at Fred Hutch.
Lauren has an amazing husband, two sons that keep her on her toes, loves collecting old books, and has a weakness for home cooked Southern food.
Byron BakerByron Baker UX Director and Partner
Byron is a UX Director with 15 years experience consulting in the areas of design, user experience, research, and product development. He has consulted for American Express, Abbott Labs, Eli Lilly, Microsoft, BAE Systems, FedEx, Fujitsu, Danaher, Chevron and others.
He has presented at several conferences on the benefits of UX design and research and was a guest lecturer and part-time faculty member for the iSchool department at the University of Washington. He holds a B.F.A. from the University of Washington focused on Photography and Visual Communication.
Byron is a self-acknowledged adrenaline junkie and is raising two more in his likeness. When not holding down his desk chair he can be found running, jumping, spinning, and flipping on the snow, water, and streets surrounding Seattle.

Peter is a UX Director focused on design. He has spent the past 17 years designing experiences across a variety of industries from software and platform development to entertainment. His previous clients include Microsoft, Amazon, Intel, MTV, Jimmy Buffett, and Steven Spielberg. As a Design Director at Microsoft he gained a deep appreciation for a customer-centric approach to designing experiences for a diverse, global audience. His specialties include UX strategy, design management, end-to-end user experience, and product innovation.
Peter is a former faculty member of the Advanced Technology Department for The American Film Institute (AFI) in Hollywood, CA and was one of the first digital video instructors at Art Center in Pasadena, CA.
When he's not at work Peter likes welding, boat building, carpentry, and spending time with his wife and three girls... preferably on the water. He makes a mean margarita and his favorite color is #f7941d.

Bill Flora is an award-winning design director and strategist with more than 20 years of experience in leading teams and shipping product. During his two decades with Microsoft, he led design efforts for Xbox, Windows Media Center, Zune and Encarta, and was the design force behind Microsoft “Metro” design language. Flora’s influences can be found in the design of software that lights up millions of screens around the globe every day.
Before joining forces with Blink, Bill founded Tectonic, a strategic experience design firm, where he worked with the world’s leading companies envisioning next generation content platforms and expressing brand through software. Clients included HBO; Microsoft; Bang & Olufsen; Amazon; Beats by Dre; Cisco, Samsung; NBC and others.

Andrew Hushbeck UX Developer
Andrew is a UX Developer and provides experience and expertise in full stack development to many clients including Savers and ISB. He is also leading the ground-up development of an internal HR tool for Blink.After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Informatics, Andrew spent 2 years working at Adobe on a designer focused web development app before branching out and starting his own company.
When not at work he enjoys going to Broadway shows, tinkering on open source projects, and playing all sorts of games.
Angela King People Operations Manager
Angela King is the People Operations Manager for Blink UX, San Diego. She is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of policies, procedures and programs of our San Diego location. A few of the items on her plate include recruiting, hiring and onboarding new team members.
Prior to Blink UX, Angela has worked in Human Resources for companies large and small from Mozilla in the Bay Area to Telepathy in San Diego. She brings over 7 years experience along with a strong passion to build a rapport with everyone she meets and to help people grow.
When not at work she is exploring the outdoors or looking to discover new recipes. She is constantly planning her next travel destination or in the kitchen trying different recipes for her friends and family to enjoy. Relaxing at home or getting lost in a new novel on the beach is her ideal R&R.
Anne Vande Creek Director, Client Relations
Anne Vande Creek is Director of Client Relations for Blink UX, where she facilitates new business across multiple industries.
Anne is naturally drawn to collaborative teamwork and is highly skilled at developing trusted relationships with clients. Her ability to listen, learn, and adapt are key to finding the win-win solutions. One of her greatest strengths is the ability and desire to work with clients as a true partner while maintaining her focus on the company's strategy.
Anne is a veteran in the design industry and has led digital projects for premier clients such as Amazon, Microsoft, Expedia, Napster, Cisco, GE, and Capital One. Anne has a passion for user experience design and advocates for solutions that drive customer delight.
Anne is a former Minnesotan and holds a BA in Communications from the University of Minnesota. She is co-founder of a lifestyle brand called Horses Cut Shop, and has a 12-year old son who is sure to be a giant.
Annie Pardo Studio Manager
Annie Pardo joins Blink as Studio Manager. She coordinates administrative duties and office procedures ensuring a high level of organizational effectiveness and communication, helps improve day-to-day office operations, and plans a steady stream of community events and company celebrations.
Annie graduated with a B.A. in English Literature and Communications from Florida State University. She spent three years exploring Arizona before moving to Washington State in 2008. Here, she has worked in tourism for Visit Seattle, assisted with partnerships for Live Nation, and coordinated events for Alaska Airlines.
Much of her free time is spent exploring the shores of Lake Washington with her two-year-old son and their big brown mutt. She'd say that a good weekend looks like a day hike, ferry sail, and the long way home.
Ben Shown Creative Director
As creative director at Blink’s Boston office, Benjamin Shown leads envisioning projects wrestling with topics including brand expressed as software, ephemeral media, and dynamic typographic systems.
Ben joined Blink in 2018 as part of an acquisition of Tectonic, an experience design studio where Ben was creative director for 4 years. Previously, he worked on future design concepts at Microsoft’s Envisioning Lab and as an exhibit designer at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle.
Ben loves collaboration, heady problems, Murphy beds, grids, typography, unity, and variety. He is an alum of UW’s graduate program of visual communication design and currently lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with his wife and 3-year-old client, Percy.
Brent Summers Director of Client Services
Brent is Director of Client Services for our San Diego office. In this role, he helps our delivery teams do their best work by collaborating with them to identify priorities, define strategies, and anticipate obstacles.
Before Blink, Brent spent seven years at International Speedway Corporation (ISC) where he contributed to IT projects that unlocked new revenue opportunities and drove organizational efficiency. Since moving to San Diego in 2011, he has lead digital projects for clients in many sectors including B2B SaaS, travel & tourism, and education. His work has been recognized by CommArts, HubSpot, Mashable, and Forbes.
Friday night is date night for he and his fiancé. On the weekends, Brent learns new tricks with his Goldendoodle Midas. ENFJ.
Brett Campbell Head of Client Relations
Brett Campbell is Head of Client Relations for Blink UX, responsible for building the business through strategic client relationships.
With 18 years of consulting experience with global companies Brett has developed a focus on solutions to help clients build trusting, authentic relationships with their customers. Brett is typically accountable for seeing those programs through to completion, measuring the business impact, and providing continued justification for improvement of customer experience investments.
Brett’s experience spans various business initiatives, including customer and user experience, product planning and execution, business information management and analytics, organizational transformation, social collaboration and various technology platforms.
Brett's approach to business is one that fosters innovation and experimentation. A focus on listening and collaboration helps him build trusted relationships with clients. This has helped him build long lasting relationships with clients such as Ford, Amway, Humana, and Microsoft. His attitude is easily described as "Lets make it happen!"

Brian is a creative Front-End Web Smith. He cares deeply about the end user and loves to innovate. Brian has a background in E-commerce development as well as in art and photography and he loves to combine these two skill sets.
Prior to Blink Brian spent two years as a web developer at Zumiez. He attended the Front-End Development Accelerator at Code Fellows and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at The Brooks Institute of Photography.
Outside of Blink Brian enjoys life with his wife and daughter, hiking, brewing beer and building a landscape photography portfolio.

Brian O'Shea Interaction Designer
Brian is an Interaction Designer at BlinkUX and delivers ongoing, top notch design and research work for clients such as MasterCard, Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, Microsoft, and Moen.
With a lifelong obsession for maps and architectural photography – Brian loves connecting visuals to space (both physical and digital) and understanding how they relate to the human experience. Prior to joining Blink, Brian spent over a decade at both startups and enterprise B2B organizations helping create backend platforms and processes that empower both literal and tangential exploration. From building communities that mix art, technology, and language while leading content and technical teams at Veer and Corbis, to co-founding a startup focused on real-time visual collaboration on construction sites – Brian brings a broad skill-set to his work as a UX & Interaction Designer including Product Management, photography & video editing, and geographic analysis.
Brian is active in the Seattle UX and IA communities – including mentoring design students from General Assembly, and speaking on UX and startup topics. In addition (with collaborators from The Wonderment and Civilization) he helped to develop and run a design thinking and ideation workshop that has had hundreds of participants - including sessions at Seattle Interactive Conference, General Assembly, and SXSW Edu.
Outside of work Brian loves getting offline into the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, finding the best soundtrack for road trips, and is currently researching where to go for his next international trek.
Brigitt Rains Project Management and Operations Director
Brigitt is a highly skilled and outgoing Director of Project Management and Operations with more than 17 years of experience in a range of industries. Brigitt’s work features a wide selection of project experience, from web, mobile web, graphic and game design, development to custom SharePoint applications, video and print production. Clients include Disney, Nickelodeon, Fremantle Media, MTV, WB, Viacom, and CBC, along with Mattel, Fisher-Price, Microsoft, Xbox, and The Clinton Foundation. She has spoken on the topic of UX and Project Management at Hive Design & Technology Conference.
Project wrangler by day, musician by night, she’s usually preparing for her next gig at the local honky tonk juke joint. She’s also a fanatic about vintage motorcycles and snowboarding. In her spare time, you’ll find her at the monthly motorcycle rallys or high on top of the mountain searching for her next steepest and deepest adventure.
Celeste Buccino Project Manager, Northwest Insights
Celeste began her career at Northwest Insights as Host and Facility Coordinator, providing the utmost in detailed care, and attentive customer service to all NWI clients using the facility, as well as handling the coordination and scheduling of the host staff.
She has a degree in Merchandise Marketing, and is fascinated with Market Research and sociology. Currently, as a Project Manager, Celeste has gained knowledge and understanding of the “behind the scenes” structure and processes for successful field research from beginning to end, and is able to use her exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills while working with clients and internal staff, to manage projects with stellar results.
As a US Navy Air Traffic Control Veteran, Celeste has always been drawn to aviation, and has traveled quite a bit, although she says her “to see” list is still lengthy. She also has a degree in martial arts, and has practiced yoga for decades, hoping one day to become a certified instructor. Celeste loves living near the Hood Canal, and is a self-proclaimed weather-geek. She says the Pacific Northwest has some of the most beautiful cloud and sky formations she’s ever seen, but she’d hop on a plane for the tropics at the drop of a hat!
Damon van Vessem Principal UX Designer
Damon is an Interaction Designer and has 15+ years of experience in Design & Usability. Before moving to the US in December 2005, he was an Interaction Designer for a user experience consultancy in The Netherlands, working for clients like ING, Vedior Europe, Delta Lloyd Insurance, KPN Telecom, @Home Internet, and the Rotterdam Port Authorities. In Seattle, he helped Alaska Airlines improve conversion and loyalty on alaskaair.com, including the acclaimed Award Finder.

Dan Zimmerman Technologist
Dan is responsible for the technology strategy and software development efforts at Blink. As part of business development process, Dan brings a technology awareness to the discussions to better understand our client’s needs and ensures that the development team at Blink can deliver the high quality software that our client’s expect.
Dan thrives on keeping involved in the latest technology trends and finding new ways to improve our process and incorporate these new innovations in our development process.
Prior to joining Blink, Dan was the CEO of Dogfish Software, a mobile application development company, where he drove company strategy, built partnerships, and managed business development efforts . Prior to Dogfish Software, Dan was the Vice-President of Engineering for PhotoWorks/American Greetings. For over 10 years, he led the engineering efforts to grow the business from an early internet start up in the digital photography sector to a leading e-commerce site. Dan also worked on the Core Technologies team at Adobe Systems, Inc. where he was responsible for delivering key technology components for all of Adobe’s products. He was also a pivotal member of the PageMaker development team at Aldus Corporation. Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Binghampton University in New York.
An early adopter of all things Apple, Dan is the proud owner of every major piece of hardware they ever produced.
Darshana Tuladhar User Researcher
Darshana is a User Researcher with a curiosity about human behavior and cognition. This led her to pursue a graduate degree in Human Behavioral Neuroscience from Cornell University, and one in Cognitive Psychology from University of Pittsburgh. During her academic training, she studied individuals with Autism and memory formation and learning within individuals with Parkinson’s disease. She was fascinated by how and why children with Autism interacted with technology. This inspired her to marry her interests in human behavior in an applied setting and pursue a career in usability testing and research.
Other interests besides human behavior, the brain, and human computer interactions include partaking in Taco Tuesdays, root beer, birds, salsa dancing, trying to play the violin, and origami.
Emilie Harris Front-end Developer
Emilie is a Front-End-Developer with a passion for customers and building friendly web interfaces. Her background as an Account Manager and her education in art has given her a unique perspective for solving problems as a developer and a deep appreciation for a customer-centric approach and user empathy.
Her specialties include ensuring cross-browser/device compatibility, responsive web design, implementing interactive interfaces, design of application architecture and developing Single Page Applications.
Prior to Blink, Emilie worked on e-commerce sites and internal tooling for Bargreen Ellingson and Brooks Running. She attended the Web Development Immersive at General Assembly and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Portland State University.
When not working on things for the web Emilie works on mixed-media art projects, experiments combining tech and art, and hangs out with her husband, cat and dog.
Eric Durr Visual Designer
Eric is a Visual Designer and has spent the last 10 years sharpening his skills in interaction, information, and visual design. He has done work for a variety of clients including Amazon, Mastercard, NASA, Nike, Cisco, United Way, and Moen. His breadth of work includes mobile apps, desktop software, branding, info graphics and b2c marketing. Eric graduated from Antonelli College in Cincinnati and also studied at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle.
Eric spent two years abroad traveling through Asia and Australiasia with his wife and has no lack of stories or photos to share. Outside of the office you will find Eric spending time with his son and cycling the city enjoying the bounty of wonderful microbrews in and around Seattle.
Eric Gomez UX Developer
Eric is a UX Developer in the Blink San Diego office. He's a UX Designer and Front-end Developer who enjoys being a bridge between two crucial parts of product development. Eric is at home creating wireframes and prototypes as he is debugging front-end code or creating his own CSS frameworks.
Prior to joining Blink, Eric was a UX Developer in various industries including three years spent building digital products for the State of Colorado.
When not in the office, Eric is enjoying life with his wife and two young boys, creating experimental electronic music, mountain biking, perfecting his pour-over coffee technique, and trying new craft beer.
Evan Scott Strategist
Evan Scott is a strategist and designer focusing on how user experience design can be applied to accomplish tactical business goals. Evan defines user experience strategy, runs stakeholder workshops, develops business models, designs wireframes, and writes technical and marketing copy. Past clients include Amazon, HBO, Microsoft, Uber, NBCUniversal, Rhapsody, and Jawbone.
Before Blink Evan worked at Tectonic, a digital design studio acquired by Blink, for two and a half years. Prior to Tectonic he received a Master of Design and an MBA from Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute of Design. He also holds a BA in Science, Technology, and Society from Stanford University.
Originally from Kalispell, Montana, Evan decided to give the city life a try in San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. Now living in Seattle, he’s happy to be close to the mountains again.
Gargi Patel Administrative Supervisor, Northwest InsightsGargi is an Administrative Supervisor at Northwest Insights, helping project management oversee the recruitment of participants for multiple research studies. She has over 10 years of experience supporting various arts, media, education, and small business organizations and has a great passion for knowledge, quality work, and helping others succeed. She holds a B.S. in Recording Industry Management and an M.B.A. from Middle Tennessee State University, where she first gained an interest in Market Research.
Originally from Arkansas, Gargi is proud to call Seattle home and also spends time involved in the city’s vibrant music community, serves as Club Secretary for her local Toastmasters group, and enjoys exploring Seattle’s unique neighborhoods and gorgeous city parks.
Greg Hansen User Researcher
Greg is a User Researcher who specializes in complex research projects for clients such as Nike, Starbucks, and Moen.
Greg previously worked as a television assistant editor, most notably on A&E’s “Hoarders,” and he does video work from time to time for Blink. He received his B.A. from Whitman College, having majored in art and minored in Japanese. Greg also holds a master’s degree from the University of Washington's Human Centered Design & Engineering department.
Holly Prouty User Researcher
Holly is a user researcher and multi-faceted creative who believes that disruptive ideas are the product of unique connections, powered by inquiry. She works to reveal creative opportunities by breaking down silos between industries, functions, and skill sets.
Prior to joining Blink, Holly was bundled up in the Midwest. Her studies at the University of Michigan led her to a career at the intersection of humanity, design, and business. Holly leverages an industrial design background to bridge the gap between physical and digital. She has led research projects resulting in the development of consumer and commercial products spanning industry segments from home goods, to consumer electronics, medical devices, and industrial equipment.
Holly is a doodler and a dabbler who spends her time searching for whimsies, good Brussels sprouts, and board game opponents. She goes the extra mile(s) to reach the best view, and when she gets there she revels in it and then tries to capture it. If you have figured out how to photograph the magic of the moon, she encourages you to drop her a line.
Irene Barber Interaction Designer
Irene leads complex, workflow-driven interaction design projects and brings over a decade of professional design experience to our Interaction Design team. She discovered her passion for the user-centered design process while working as a graphic designer, and has pursued UX consulting work ever since. UX fulfills her inquisitive nature by allowing her to learn about, and help solve problems for, a variety of industries and environments, and the diverse people within them. She holds a B.S. in Informatics from the University of Washington where her capstone team were semi-finalists in the Washington Health Alliance’s “Be the Change” competition. She continues to be interested in how technology can influence and facilitate social change.
Irene was born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest, and enjoys taking day trips out into all it has to offer. A UX’r by day and musician by night, you can catch Irene performing out in the local music scene with one of her musical projects.
Janet McDonald Project Manager, Northwest Insights
As a Project Manager at NWI Insights, Janet has over 25 years of experience in the market research industry. Her background includes project management for a variety of qualitative methods (focus groups, usability testing, taste tests, one-on-one interviews, ethnography studies, and product placements), as well as managing quantitative studies.
Prior to her Project Management role, Janet worked as a Data Collection Manager; managing a phone center, coders, and data entry personnel.
One of Janet’s lifelong passions started with a trip to the Ashland Oregon Shakespeare festival in high school and since then she has seen numerous productions in many of Seattle’s theater companies.
Jill Bruins User Researcher
As a User Researcher, Jill specializes in dispelling assumptions and reinforcing discoveries, and is known for her flexibility and creativity in addressing client and program needs. Jill has worked extensively on Microsoft and Amazon projects at Blink, as well as with numerous other clients in domains as diverse as e-commerce, gaming, telecommunications, and entertainment.
With two bachelor’s degrees (Marketing and Economics) and a Master’s in Survey Research, Jill has nearly ten years’ experience in quantitative research design, execution, and analytics. And though she loves to crank up SPSS and tackle a tasty dataset, she’s equally adept at qualitative research work, with many domestic and international site visits, usability studies, and participant interviews under her belt. With her quantitative and qualitative skillsets, she works on a broad range of research and design programs, and is a consistently sought-after teammate by clients and colleagues.
Jill is a former NCAA Division I athlete-scholar with a mean curve ball and a GPA to match. With an additional family history of highly successful motorsport competition, she’s everyone’s choice for vehicle operation during site visits in challenging driving environments the world over.
Joe Welinske Content Strategist
Joe has been involved with software development since 1984. He specializes in the areas of content strategy, user assistance, and accessible design. In addition to design and development for clients, he teaches at the University of Washington, UC Silicon Valley, and Bellevue College. Joe received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1981, and a M.S. in Adult Instructional Management from Loyola University in 1987.
Joe is currently serving as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Seattle chapter of IxDA and is a co-organizer of the Seattle Accessibility and Inclusive Design meet up group. Joe served as the President of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication from 2006-2008 and as Membership Director for the Puget Sound Chapter of the Usability Professionals Association in 2010.
Joe recently published a book called Developing User Assistance for Mobile Apps. He is working on a new book on Practical Techniques for Accessible Design which he hopes to publish in early 2018.
Jonathan Evans Interaction Designer
As an Interaction Designer, Jonathan uses his passions for design and cognitive psychology to build connections between user research and user-centered design (UCD). This includes UCD and research focused on children.
At Ignite Seattle, Jonathan spoke about how UX principles do not apply to children and continues to be active in the field. He has also written articles for UX Matters on How to Balance Design Guidelines for Children and Discovering Efficiencies in the Processing of Government Forms.
Prior to joining Blink in 2012, Jonathan worked on projects for diverse organizations including Autodesk, BP, CBS, Classmates.com, the FBI, Sony, University of Melbourne’s Trinity College, and the University of Virginia. While at UVA, Jonathan received a Master of Science in Systems & Information Engineering, focusing on Human Factors. His thesis was a passion project that explored the removal of errors in audio book recordings created for the blind and dyslexic people, mostly children. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Swarthmore College.
When not at work, Jonathan can be found goofing around with his wife, being pounced on by his two daughters, and being walked by his pup.
Jordan Barber Interaction Designer
As an Interaction Designer, Jordan is addicted to problem solving and has always been driven by a desire to understand the world down to the minutia. Growing up she had her mind set on a hundred different professions, but she found her passion in design.
Throughout her career she has worked for The Northwest Organization for Animal Help, Fluke and REI. Jordan loves to explore the different facets of design, which has resulted in her diverse assortment of work that spans print, web, mobile and motion graphics. She graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and from the Digital Design program at Vancouver Film School with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Digital Design with a focus on user experience design.
When her head is not down solving design problems, Jordan can be found supporting Seattle sports teams, playing outside or enjoying the local food scene.
Jorge Hernandez Design Director
Jorge is an award-winning design director with experience in a variety of disciplines and strategic methodologies. He helps clients in every aspect of the customer journey. Jorge employs user-centered design and systems thinking to develop beautiful, useful experiences that make a measurable impact on business.
Over his 16-year career, Jorge has continually pushed himself to learn new industries and techniques. He began his career as a graphic designer in the motorsports industry and eventually shifted into a role as a product designer for high-tech bags and other gear for motorcycle enthusiasts. In 2009 Jorge made a strategic decision to learn UX and digital design. He has experience designing with a variety of CMS and eCommerce platforms.
Katie Greiner User Researcher
Katie is a User Researcher with an inquisitive nature, and she is always asking questions. She’s eager to learn more about people and how they behave.
She has a background in Human-Computer Interaction from Rochester Institute of Technology and worked for several years as a User Researcher at Zappos.com, where she became passionate about evangelizing user research stories in an actionable and memorable way.
Katie loves challenging herself and trying new hobbies. Currently, she’s into paint by numbers, wood carving and bouldering…maybe she’ll get into paddle boarding soon! She’s eager to explore Seattle and hike all the trails mentioned in the book “60 hikes within 60 miles: Seattle”, only 59 more to go!
Kevin Burzynski Director, Client Relations and Partner
Kevin is a Client Partner at Blink UX. In that role he helps find and assess opportunities with clients to achieve business goals through a better user experience.
A southern California native, Kevin graduated from Vanguard University with a B.A. in Psychology. After college, Kevin worked as a behavioral consultant with Autism Intervention and Resources. Kevin moved into the UX field because loves helping people solve their problems.
His hobbies include photography and fatherhood. Kevin enjoys the outdoors and can often be found exploring hiking trails around San Diego on the weekend with his family.
Kristina Knaus HR Director
Kristina manages HR efforts at Blink, including recruiting, employee development, and culture and events. She is also the CSR lead for the office, keeping our company responsible by organizing giving drives and volunteer activities. She loves coming to work everyday to an office filled with smart, curious, and passionate people.
She is a graduate from the University of Missouri where she studied Strategic Communications and Business. A lover of travel and community service, Kristina took time off after university to volunteer as a teacher in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon returning stateside, she relocated to Seattle where she quickly joined the tech world. After hearing Karen Clark Cole speak about the culture at Blink UX at community event, Kristina knew she wanted to be a part of the Blink family.
In her spare time, Kristina writes for Rain or Shine Guides, a local travel website, and can usually be found reading, planning her next trip, or volunteering.
Lauren Javor Sr. UX Designer
As a UX designer at Blink, Lauren is passionate about creating frictionless, lovable experiences. She considers herself a professional simplifier, on an eternal quest to reduce complexity without sacrificing functionality. Her superpower is moving between macro and micro design thinking, from high-level concepts and design systems, to delightful microinteractions.
Lauren holds a masters degree in interaction design from Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden and a bachelor degree in Industrial Design from Carleton University in Canada. Before Blink, her professional endeavors included conceptualizing new products for the future of productivity, developing the creation framework for an interactive storytelling experience, and designing installations for a new science center.
Lauren is addicted to learning new things in all areas of her life from tools and techniques to improve her efficiency, to outdoor adventure sports and urban farming.
Lauren Werner UX Designer
Lauren is able to seamlessly translate business objectives into imaginative visual concepts. She anticipates client needs based on in-depth understanding of business goals, collaborating to create the best user experience. Lauren is deeply involved in every aspect of the design process including research, strategy, design and development. She works closely with the team to implement best practices and latest trends in UX and design.
Lauren has a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design as well as a Minor in Business from Northeastern University. With her extensive consulting background in design and business Lauren is an amazing collaborator and is always excited to create strategic and engaging experiences.
Lauren is a design geek, and tapas enthusiast. She enjoys making applications and websites that are both functional and beautiful.
Leili Slutz User Researcher
Leili is a user researcher passionate about the interplay between people, information, and technology. She has worked as a researcher on projects spanning enterprise software, public libraries and open data, and the role of primary care physicians in genomic medicine. Leili loves exploring the many different worlds that research brings her into.
Leili holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington’s iSchool, as well as a Graduate Certificate in User Centered Design from the UW’s Human Centered Design and Engineering program.
On weekends you can find Leili curled up with a good book, out on a trail in the beautiful PNW, or volunteering with Open Seattle on a civic technology project.
Li Li UX Developer
Li Li is a Front-end Developer and passionate about creating beautiful and intuitive web applications while utilizing the latest best practices and exercising the agile methodology. She has worked with many clients including Toro, Clipper, and Moen. She also completed a skill for the Amazon’s artificially intelligent assistant, Alexa.
Mark Gsellman IT/Facilities Manager
Mark is the IT/Facilities Manager and our resident photographer. He is responsible for all of Blink's technology as well as our security.
Prior to joining Blink, Mark worked as a Photojournalist, Art Director for Getty Images, Technologist in various industries, and taught computer graphics and photography. You can see a collection of his photography work here.
Mark earned a Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from Ohio State University. He is a global traveller and loves telling stories through pictures.
Matt Hemeyer Director, Client Relations
Matt is a Client Relations Director responsible for account growth and delivery at Blink’s enterprise clients with a primary focus on Microsoft.
Matt has extensive experience selling interactive solutions to all varieties of Pacific Northwest technology companies – from startups to software behemoths. He is happiest working with clients over the long-term and helping them solve complex problems. He earned his Master’s in Irish Literature from Trinity College Dublin.
From Muncie, Indiana originally, Matt arrived in the Northwest after stints living in Korea and Ireland. He is in love with Seattle, fried chicken, and his girlfriend. He is a co-owner of a craft bitters company and would love to talk your ear off about cocktails.
Michael Harding Principal UX Researcher
Michael is a Principal UX Researcher at Blink and enjoys working with clients to uncover insights into their product’s end to end experiences, with a particular focus on hardware UX.
Michael comes to Blink with 13 years of experience in user experience research from Microsoft, including five years as a device lead with the Surface device team. During his time at Microsoft he got to know Blink through partnerships Blink had with various Microsoft teams and in the end was convinced to change his desk view for the opportunity to work with amazing clients from around the world.
Michael is originally from New England (Maine and Mass), where he spent his former life racing sailboats and playing on the coast, but has called Seattle home for 24 years now. He lives here with his wife, Gretchen, and two very active and demanding teenagers. Michael is always open to chatting about skiing, hiking, and cycling in the Northwest, travel, and also likes to play and listen to music (He enjoys it all, but plays in a bluegrass band).
Mike Weinstein UX Designer
Mike is a UX Designer at the Blink Boston office. He joined Blink with the Tectonic team, where he worked to create design systems for brands and digital experiences.
Before working at Blink, Mike spent time as a lead designer at several startups, an interactive designer for an advertising agency, and a freelancer. His work includes UX and visual design, front-end web development, prototyping, logo design, and illustration. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a degree in graphic design.
Outside of work Mike enjoys traveling, playing basketball, binge-watching Netflix series, and challenging himself with self-initiated design projects.
Ronald Viernes Visual Designer
Ronald is a Visual Designer at Blink and has a strong passion for coming up with elegant solutions to complex user-centered design problems.
Prior to Blink, Ronald graduated from the University of Washington Design program and landed his first job at local agency, Hornall Anderson designing brand identities and systems for clients such as Hewlett Packard, HTC, Quaker Oats, and Frito-Lay. Then he joined the first and original design consultancy, Teague where he worked on branded product design experiences for large Fortune 500 companies like Intel, Microsoft, and J.W. Marriott to name a few. His last stint was at Tectonic envisioning next-generation software experiences for clients such as Amazon, Microsoft, Rhapsody, and smaller start-ups.
Ronald is the proud owner of a lovable (but stubborn) Miniature Schnauzer, Drake Bugatti who sometimes gets to come into the office and cause trouble. He also moonlights as a volleyball coach for inner-city high schools and Kraken Volleyball Club, an elite junior volleyball organization that he helped start.
Ross Bohner Principal UX Developer
Ross is a UX Developer with over 10 years of experience converting loosely defined concepts into exceptional interactive software. Ross thrives in situations of high levels of uncertainty requiring innovative problem solving to explore product value assumptions and define development strategies.
Prior to Blink, Ross has developed a variety of software including web applications, 3D animation tools, virtual reality simulations, real-time training applications, biofeedback systems, avionics, and video games.
Ross holds M.S. in Human Computer Interaction from Iowa State University, M.S. Human-Centered Design and Engineering from University of Washington and a B.S. in Computer Science from University of Northern Iowa.
In his spare time, Ross can be found building experimental video games, animating 3D characters, or finishing near the bottom in a local triathlon.
Roxane Neal User Researcher
Roxane is a User Researcher who for the past 12+ years has been providing user insight to inform design, employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Her projects span both business to business (B2B) and consumer but has a passion for enterprise UX.
Always rooting for the underdog, she is an empathetic advocate for those doing complex or high pressure work. She earned a Masters in Human Centered Design & Engineering from the University of Washington.
When she isn’t interviewing users, Roxane is likely scheming her next outdoor adventure, camping, hiking, backpacking, or cross-country skiing.
Sara Keats Marketing Manager
Sara Keats is the marketing manager at Blink. She tells the story of Blink to our clients, colleagues, and friends.
Keats graduated from the BXA programs at Carnegie Mellon University before moving to Seattle in 2013. She has run marketing programs for the Nordic Heritage Museum, Encore Media Group, and City Arts magazine.
In her spare time, Keats is the volunteer director of dramaturgy for Umbrella Project, a Seattle-based new play development organization that she co-founded in 2015. She also loves to take her dog to the beach, visit new countries, and read fiction in Seattle’s many cozy cafes.
Sarah Miller Project Manager
As Project Manager, Sarah is in charge of supporting project teams by removing roadblocks, monitoring and updating schedules, and tracking budgets. She owns the project's start and close process and supports the research and recruiting teams. Clients have included Amazon, Capital One, Microsoft, and Starbucks
Sarah joined Blink bringing a background in administrative support, event planning, and lean workplace organization. She graduated with a B.A. in Public Relations from Illinois State University before moving to Seattle in 2007. Prior to joining Blink, she worked for six years at Safeco Insurance as both an Executive Assistant to two Vice Presidents and as a Business Analyst.
In her free time, Sarah writes and takes photos for Rain or Shine Guides, a website focused on the best things to eat, do and see in the Northwest. Sarah also enjoys going on adventures with her husband, cooking and taking vacations to exotic, far-off destinations such as Thailand or Decatur, Illinois.
Serena Down Project Manager
Serena is a Blink Project Manager who brings her dedication to going the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly for clients. Before Blink, Serena was the Project Manager at LearnBIG, an e-learning company where she led projects for both academic and corporate clients from kickoff to delivery.
Serena’s background is in visual storytelling. She’s worked on international television productions for clients including the Discovery Channel, TLC and A&E, so she’s no stranger to fast-paced projects with hard deadlines. She holds a Masters in Communication from Stanford University, where she studied documentary film and earned the National Health Information Award and the Jerry Jenson Award for Journalism for her films. Serena also holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Washington.
Though she’s a lifelong bookworm, you can also find her out on the trails or biking the Seattle streets. She’s currently honing her skills at throwing a Frisbee worthy of her twelve-year-old and creating paper dolls for her six-year-old art director.
Seth is a Research Director for our San Diego office. In this role, collaborating with stakeholders, he crafts user experience research methods with the goal of delivering insights that establish empathy and achieve value driven outcomes.
Seth's successful career in user experience spans almost two decades. He has led countless high-profile solutions that have resulted in great experiences for millions of end users. Notable companies that he spent time with are Sony Interactive Entertainment, Sony Electronics, BD Medical, Kyocera, Qualcomm, and DirecTV via Wind River.
When out of the office you'll find him enjoying time with his wife and kids or likely on a tennis court. He captains a USTA men’s tennis team and participates in various tournaments and leagues throughout the year.
Shawn Gierahn Assistant Administrative Supervisor, Northwest Insights
Shawn is an Assistant Administrative Supervisor at Northwest Insights, helping maintain a calm and positive work environment for both the administration and recruiters. Shawn helps project management oversee the recruitment of participants for multiple research studies and focuses his attention on assisting all who need assistance.
As a recent graduate from California State University of Monterey Bay, Shawn earned his BA in Communications with an emphasis on Journalism and Media Studies. During his time in Monterey he helped run the award-winning OtterRealm Newspaper as a production designer and editor. He also worked part-time as an after school program student teacher, educating youth on topics related to the mass media.
New to Washington, Shawn likes to spend his free time exploring the city and finding all that Seattle has to offer. On the weekends he enjoys creative hobbies from amatuer photography, to drawing and painting. In the winter you can be sure to find him out in the mountains exploring new places to snowboard.
Shona Zhang Accountant
Shona is a Blink accountant and responsible for accounts payable/receivable. She has hands-on accounting experience under GAAP. She is proficient in bookkeeping, processing payroll, handling bank reconciliations, tracking business expenses, filing Canadian federal and provincial sales taxes, and preparing corporation registry documentation.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and an advanced diploma in Accounting from Capilano University in North Vancouver, BC Canada.
Stephanie Carlson Resourcing Manager
Stephanie Carlson is Blink’s Resourcing Manager responsible for coordinating team members for each project as they come in. Her 15+ years of experience in various customer service roles comes in handy when approaching the dynamics of each project.
Prior to Blink UX, Stephanie has worked in marketing, social media, event management, and customer service training. She brings a wealth of knowledge in working with people and their various communication styles and personalities.
Stephanie was recently called a unicorn as she is a native to Seattle and is uniquely outgoing and personable. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her dog Molly, friends, and family. You can often find her in a yoga studio, local coffee shop (like Caffé Umbria), or outdoors.
Teresa Liu Park User Researcher
Teresa is a User Researcher who loves working collaboratively with clients to ask the right questions. She enjoys having a holistic approach to research and considering how the research fits into the bigger picture.
In her past life, Teresa studied engineering and worked in data analysis in the healthcare industry. Some of her work involved building business cases for corporate initiatives, giving her an appreciation for the intersection of business and analytics. Other projects with consumer-facing tools helped her discover a passion for the user, and so she followed that passion into the field of UX.
In her spare time, Teresa can often be found traveling to see family and friends, looking for delicious cheap eats, and trying to become more of a Seattleite by exploring the outdoors.
Tim Bridgham Technologist & Research Assistant
Tim is a Technologist & Research Assistant with ten years of customer support experience in various areas including technology, user experience, web and social media communications, project management, and customer service. Tim is passionate about people, creating great customer experiences, and simplifying the complexities of technology.
He is from Kansas City and loves discovering the many perks of Seattle. In his free time, he enjoys being outside on a bike or a trail, listening to good music, and enjoying good food and drink with good people.
Tom Ham Creative Director
Tristan Plank Interaction Designer
Tristan is an Interaction Designer and has a background in psychology and a passion for design. During his career he has enjoyed performing research, creating killer designs, and being a jack-of-many-trades in the area of Human Center Design working for such clients as Farm Credit, Swedish Hospital, Microsoft, Fluke, and Starbucks.
Prior to joining Blink, Tristan worked on a variety of government, military, and commercial projects which included clients such as DARPA, the United States Army, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cisco, Alion Science & Technology, and several local small businesses. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado and honed his user-centered design chops earning a Master’s degree in Human Centered Design & Engineering from the University of Washington.
In his off time he can be found sipping a cortado at Caffé Fiore, taste testing local IPAs in Ballard, and finding the best trails in the Cascades.
