BlinkUX Works On Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center’s Program

BlinkUX, a research and design firm specializing in the user experience of digital products, is proud to announce its involvement in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research.

Smoking cessation program now live, seeks participants

Blink UX, a research and design firm specializing in the user experience of digital products, is proud to announce its involvement in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center’s unique smoking cessation program, WebQuit. Blink was selected by Fred Hutchinson’s Dr. Jonathan Bricker and team to provide user research and design expertise for the newly-redesigned website. The result is a more intuitive site that is both engaging and easier to use than its predecessor.

Blink staff were very excited to participate in the project for several reasons:

  1. The opportunity to work with Fred Hutchinson, a leading-edge research center committed to scientifically improving the lives of millions of cancer patients worldwide.
  2. The ability to affect change in the lives of people through meaningful interaction design meant that the staff’s work would have an immediate impact on the wellness of individuals and families of those struggling with tobacco addiction.

WebQuit is an online quit-smoking program and research study, conducted by Dr. Bricker, the study’s principal investigator and scientist at Fred Hutchinson, aimed at providing interactive real-time tools, personalized quit plans, and tutorials to help people give up tobacco for good.

"Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer, or is touched by this disease themselves," said Karen Clark Cole, CEO and co-founder of Blink UX. "Dr. Bricker is a pioneer in embracing technology for positive behavior change that will directly lead to a reduction in behavior-related cancers. To be a part of that monumental change is an outstanding honor."

"We are delighted to have partnered with Blink UX on the design of our WebQuit website. Our research team is devoted to finding the best online tools for quitting smoking. So if you’re a smoker who’s getting ready to quit, I hope you’ll take the first step right now and join WebQuit," said Jonathan Bricker, Ph.D., the study’s principal investigator and a scientist who specializes in smoking cessation. "WebQuit provides online tools with the goal of helping you quit smoking and experiencing all the personal benefits that come with it.”
