Accessibility evaluations

Open up your product to more people with a wider range of abilities. Nearly 1 in 5 people have a permanent disability – 57 million people in the US alone – and many more experience a temporary or situational impairment. Whether you are looking to grow your user base, comply with legal standards, or simply do the right thing, we can help you create an inclusive user experience.

Accessibility Audit

An accessibility technical audit starts with reviewing the site or product WCAG 2.0AA accessibility standards, a common international benchmark, similar to US Section 508 guidelines. The review will help you understand the current accessibility level of your product, where the obstacles are, and provide actionable recommendations to overcome them (usually a combination of design and coding modifications). A full review requires code, but we can also provide a preliminary, partial review of design mockups or prototypes.

Outcomes:

  • Insight into your product’s current level of accessibility and issues.
  • Actionable recommendations for achieving compliance, in code and design.

Accessibility Lab Study

Observe first-hand how people with disabilities experience your site or product. These sessions complement the Accessibility Audit in depth and level of exposure. They provide insights at the level of task flows and clarity (beyond heuristics) as well as the exposure and empathy necessary to embed accessible practices in your team.

Outcomes:

  • First-hand exposure to how people with disabilities experience your product.
  • Insight into your product’s current level of accessibility and issues.
  • Actionable recommendations for achieving compliance, in code and design.
